Generating Electricity
with
Speed Breakers

The Inspiration
The inspiration for this project stems from the pressing need to develop affordable and efficient energy resources to address Pakistan's severe electricity shortage.
The Journey
At the experimental level, the hypothesis was successfully tested, demonstrating the conversion of kinetic energy into electrical energy using a 3D model. Additionally, a meeting was arranged with the Executive Member of the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce to discuss the implementation of the idea on a trial basis, either on the road in front of the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce or at the Chenab Club. A follow-up meeting is scheduled for the first week of June to assess the progress of the proposal.
Key Learnings
The availability of required resources posed the biggest challenge during the project's implementation, as the technology involved was truly futuristic. This necessitated ordering some resources online, which had an impact... on the project timeline. The students encountered technical difficulties in designing and developing an efficient 3D model, but with the assistance of a professional mechanic, they were able to overcome these challenges. The project provided students with a valuable platform to connect with a wide range of experts in the field of Science and Technology, who offered practical solutions to their queries. Moreover, the project exposed the students to local, cluster, and regional levels, where they had the opportunity to engage with higher authorities through formal meetings. This project has the potential to serve as a turning point towards a sustainable society and community, with the students playing a significant role in achieving this transformation.
The Impact
If implemented on a larger scale, this project has the potential to significantly contribute towards achieving self-sufficiency in electricity generation, ensuring a brighter future.
Way Forward
During the meeting held with the Central Region LAP team, it was suggested to forward the idea of generating electricity with speed breakers to Beaconhouse Energy Limited (BEL). At the next level, the Chamber of Commerce has been reached out to implement the idea on an experimental basis.
