The Battle of
Multiple Intelligence
(TBOMI)

The Inspiration
With the start of COVID-19, social interaction between people had become less and there was barely any exciting activity to engage in; hence the team decided to work on a project with other Beaconhouse campuses giving all the opportunity to analyse, synthesise, evaluate, critically think and communicate. This project gave them the freedom to design, plan and experiment while taking charge of their learning, motivating them to explore their society virtually. This led to the idea of The Battle of Multiple Intelligence, where, as a team, they catered to the emotional, social, and learning needs of many students while having fun and an enjoyable time.
The Journey
TBOMI was a competition that targeted learners' variant skills. Each activity focused on a specific genre of skills i.e. Shutter Surprise–Visual Skills and Digital Awareness History Quest–Research and Analytical skills Survival on Red–Research and Analytical Skills Bazm e Lyrics–Creative skills Tonal Talent–Creative skills Mathlete–Analysing skills Painted Spaces–Visual and Creativity skills Two students led each activity; further formed sub-teams. Registrations were open across all middle school branches in the southern region, and advertisement campaigns were run. The event underwent significant trial and error phases, including virtual and physical mocks. Neutral judges were invited to judge their respective competitions, and the judgement criteria were shared with judges and participants. The event received tremendous appreciation for its planning, organisation, and execution.
Key Learnings
The key takeaways of this project are:
- Discipline
- Believing in oneself
- Time management
- A positive approach triggers foundation building
- Teamwork helps the dream work
- Partnerships were fostered as a result of teamwork
- Motivation is directly proportional to appreciation
- Planning strategically helps shape a vision
- Organisation by work delegation keeps everyone goal-centred
- Work delegation keeps an individual accountable
This project was... an enjoyable event for everyone as it opened more doors and built partnerships with schools, and created great experiences. Different ideas were explored, and everyone was appreciated for their work. The team had a great time, and each member's reflection helped them identify areas for development.
The Impact
The competition's seven activities help learners grow in different fields and explore various interests and skills. TBOMI develops time management, discipline, patience, and leadership skills. The project allowed them to design activities, choose team members, experiment with technology, and take charge of their learning. Being at home didn't stop learners from having fun, and they had a significant impact on all stakeholders.
Way Forward
The project aimed to prove that limited social interaction doesn't limit learning. Technology helps learners explore and showcase their talents, think critically, collaborate, communicate, create, research, reflect, and develop leadership skills. They aim to continue this mode of learning in the future as well.
