Dewar-e-Ehsas

The Inspiration
Dewar-e-Ehsas was initially aimed at providing clothes and food to those in need during extreme winters. After facing administrative issues, during the founder's O-levels, the project was delayed until she started her A-levels and... formed a dedicated team. Now, Dewar-e-Ehsas collaborates with international and domestic organisations to address mental health, animal welfare, women's rights, and the well-being of the lower class. The project was inspired by a news story about a man who tragically died due to a lack of protection from cold. The team shares the goal of making society better for every individual, irrespective of age, gender, or socioeconomic status. They strive to provide assistance to everyone to the best of their abilities and succeed in their mission.
The Journey
Dewar-e-Ehsas is currently engaged in two collaborations, one with an international organisation focused on women's rights called "Afsana." They organised a healing session with a psychologist and supported each other's causes on social media platforms. Their second collaboration is in the early stages, centred around mental health, with a Pakistan-wide organisation that approached them. They are also planning a donation drive with the "Allah Walay Trust" to support pregnant patients at Benazir Bhutto Hospital, and their ambassadors are working tirelessly to gather donations for this cause.
Key Learnings
The key learning from Dewar-e-Ehsas is the importance of addressing social issues and creating positive change in society, with a focus on ensuring basic human rights for all individuals, regardless of age, gender, or socioeconomic status. The initiative emphasises the need for youth-led efforts to play a part in addressing anomalies in society and working towards a better future for Pakistan and humanity as a whole.
The Impact
Dewar-e-Ehsas is now a successful and exceptionally functional project. The group collaborated with some very successful organisations, both international and domestic. They were able to work towards mental health, animal welfare, women’s rights, and welfare of the lower class.
Way Forward
Dewar-e-Ehsas aims to address societal issues such as drug abuse, domestic violence, and racism through donation drives, awareness programs, and online sessions. As a youth-led initiative, they believe it is their duty to create positive change and expand their team beyond Islamabad and Rawalpindi to reach other cities and countries. Their goal is to tackle multiple societal anomalies and make society better for everyone, exploring new aspects such as drug abuse and domestic violence through collaborations and independent work. They will continue to address existing issues and implement new strategies to achieve their mission.
