At BCP Defence, the students have been observed to benefit significantly—both academically and emotionally from chipping in their chance to make the community and world a better place. Our students truly needed to do something else to 'make a difference'; accordingly, they chose to look inwards and help by developing a teaching service program for our support staff, to whom they owe a large part of their school experience.
The Journey
Charagh-e-Ilm is a program set up by BCP Defence to provide non-formal education, numeracy, and fundamental abilities training to support staff. The program's curriculum is designed to enhance basic skills and improve support staff's ability to perform tasks such as household budgeting and daily communication. The program's main language of instruction is Urdu, and the literacy classes are based on a phonetic teaching and learning method. Leading teachers are highly skilled student volunteers who undertake leadership and management roles in the program. The primary focus of the classroom teacher is on the planning, preparation, and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes. The program aims to increase the knowledge base and learning of staff within the school.
