The Inspiration
Covid-19 caused the group of five students from BDC to feel trapped. It seemed in this endless pandemic, that life may never return to normal. They wanted to escape, to have a way to rebel against the epidemic, to show that they still stood tall. As a result, a group of resilient and enthusiastic budding video editors and producers, seized the opportunity to display their skills to the world and to spread a positive message about resilience during Covid-19.
The Journey
To understand the global impact of Covid-19 pandemic, the group collected news clippings and videos. To delve deeper into the school community's feelings, they conducted interviews with guards, teachers, and peers. The aim was to grasp their perspectives during these tough times. Consulting with the school psychologist, the group learned about mental health care during the pandemic. Taking action, they organised therapy sessions, group discussions, and artistic activities for students to express themselves while venting out their frustrations and to find solutions to the problems at hand. Additionally, exercise sessions were held to promote productivity and contentment. Finally, the enthusiasts created an inspirational video showcasing their journey and highlighting the resilience of human beings in conquering the prevalent challenges.
Key Learnings
The core takeaway from the project was that even when times were at their bleakest, even when it seemed that everything was going wrong, even when they felt trapped and stuck, there would be relief. One can win and one can pull through. Group worked on this project to show resilience, and in doing so, found out that they can triumph over any situation, if put their mind and soul to it.
The Impact
The group’s efforts to fight the pandemic and improve mental health had a significant impact. They provided relief to those feeling trapped, depressed, and broken during the pandemic. By spreading the belief that one can power through this with tenacity, they helped people develop resilience and hope. Their messages showed that while Covid-19 is a threat, it is not insurmountable. Through their actions, they demonstrated the power of human kindness and compassion in the times of crisis.
Way Forward
The group aims to continue their work of making people resilient by providing them with the needed support in order to cope with challenges and stressors. This can include access to mental health services, community support networks, and education on coping strategies. Additionally, promoting a culture of resilience and positivity can help individuals develop a mindset of perseverance and adaptability.
